Changelog

Gentlybot ships every week.

Highlights of what recently landed for every workspace. Not exhaustive — just the changes you’ll actually notice.

Updated September 20, 2026

48 updates

Start a thread without leaving the page

LatestThreads

Press ⌘/ (Ctrl+/ on Windows) or use ⌘K to open a quick composer over whatever you’re looking at. Pick the project, branch, and runtime, then send to jump into the thread, or press ⌘Enter to start it in the background.

Know what a finished thread needs from you

ThreadsNotifications

Threads now say whether they need a reply, an action outside the conversation such as merging a PR, or a review because the result couldn’t be confirmed. Badges, toasts, and push notifications use the same labels.

Tell Gently and people apart

Threads

Gently’s replies read as prose beside its avatar, while people’s messages appear as chat bubbles with yours on the right. Short status updates shrink to a single line so the conversation stays easy to scan.

Keep an attachment open while you type

ThreadsAttachments

On desktop the attachment viewer floats and can be dragged aside while you write the prompt. Extra captures fold into a +N tile, and images Gently reads now show inline in the conversation.

Ask about your workspace logs

Workspace

Select log output, or take the latest lines, and ask Gently about them directly. Copy clean log text without the formatting noise.

A tidier composer on phones

Mobile

Workspace, runtime, and model settings collapse into compact controls on narrow screens, and run activity is easier to follow on mobile.

Project secrets, set once per repository

EnvironmentsSecrets

Declare the secret names each app needs in gently.apps.yml and store the values encrypted per project and repository. Every new thread receives them, and Configure lets you paste a whole .env file or edit all secrets at once.

Fill missing secrets from a .env paste

EnvironmentsSecrets

When a thread is missing secrets, paste your .env into its missing-secrets card. Each value is saved to the repository and app that declared it, and names that don’t match are listed instead of guessed.

Jump from a preview element to its source

WorkspacePreview

Select an element in the live preview and open the component files behind it, level by level, in the workspace editor.

Decide what happens after review

ReviewPull requests

Choose whether a review ends in a pull request or a merge when you submit it, and turn automatic review on or off from the review launcher. While review runs, the thread shows the delivery it will perform next.

See exactly what a deploy will ship

Deployments

The Deploy button opens your existing deployment’s Deploy sheet with the serving and incoming commits, the threads they came from, missing secrets, and config, dependency, or migration changes. Reach it from the project or from a merged thread.

Forum replies you can scan

ForumProject lead

Project lead and specialist replies now show in full with a clear verdict up front, tables for comparisons, callouts for decisions you need to make, and a collapsed reference list.

Gently links unfurl in Slack

Slack

Paste a thread, wireframe, or artifact link into Slack and teammates see a card with what’s behind it. Cards only appear for people who belong to the workspace.

Narrated videos with music and your pronunciations

Recordings

Narrated films get a music bed sized to the video, transition effects, and balanced loudness. Tell Gently how your organization’s names are pronounced so the voiceover says them right.

Runs start answering sooner

Performance

Sandbox preparation and code indexing no longer hold up the first response, repository instructions load in parallel, and commits run faster.

Understand the changes before you review

Review

Generate a guided explanation of the changes in one completed run or across an entire thread, with links to the affected files. Thread explanations show when newer changes need a fresh explanation. Generation uses AI credits.

Preview and edit generated artifacts

ArtifactsWorkspace

Open generated web artifacts in the workspace preview, then jump to their source files to make edits. Find them from the preview toolbar, thread attachments, or the Artifacts page.

Ask a model to weigh in on a comment

CollaborationModels

Mention a model in a contextual comment or reply to ask for another perspective. It answers in the comment conversation without changing your files, so you can discuss a specific passage or change before acting on it.

Read the overview, then explore the plan

Planning

Long plans now open with a compact overview, navigable chapters, and checklist progress. Switch to the full plan for the details. Build in the current thread, or revisit a completed plan and build it again in a new thread.

Enter secrets without putting them in chat

Environments

When Gently requests a workspace secret, enter it in a dedicated masked field. The value goes through a separate save flow, and the conversation receives a confirmation instead of the secret.

Get notified in Slack and reply from there

NotificationsSlack

Opt in to Slack direct messages for finished runs, requests that need your attention, and mentions. Reply to a thread notification in Slack to continue the conversation. You can also send a test push notification to your current browser from settings.

Answer each question in its own space

Threads

Numbered questions can now have separate answers, with room for multiple lines when you need to explain. If submission fails, your answers stay in place so you can retry.

Adjust a goal as the work develops

Goals

Edit a standing goal’s objective, success criteria, limits, and verification methods from its settings. Refine what counts as done while the work is underway.

Investigate AWS problems from a thread

IntegrationsAWS

Connect AWS diagnostics so Gently can investigate service health, metrics, traces, and recent account activity alongside logs. Choose which diagnostic capabilities each connection allows from integration settings.

Connect an existing GitHub installation

IntegrationsGitHub

Connect an already-approved GitHub App installation to your workspace directly from settings. Installation messages also make it clearer when you are waiting for an organization owner’s approval.

Choose a narration voice by listening

VerificationRecordings

Hear a short sample before choosing a voice for browser demos. Samples are available in run settings and organization defaults, including the fallback provider’s version of each voice.

Pick up where you left off

Threads

Catch up on a long thread with a short saved recap of the request, progress, and any unfinished work. Read it in the conversation or open it from the thread menu without starting another AI run.

Your workspace tools, always within reach

Workspace

A persistent desktop toolbar keeps Preview, Changes, Files, Terminal, and Database beside the conversation. Open tools side by side, check pull-request status, and spot environment problems without hunting through menus.

Architecture you can explore and share

Diagrams

Ask Gently to explain a system’s architecture and explore the diagram as it appears in chat. Switch between overview and detail views, select components to follow their connections, and download the diagram as an SVG or take the source with you.

Review saved changes without waiting

ReviewWorkspace

Saved code changes now open while a sleeping workspace starts up, so you can begin reviewing immediately. A timestamp shows when the snapshot was captured, and the view refreshes when the workspace is ready.

Send screenshots while Gently is working

ThreadsAttachments

Attach a screenshot or reference image to a follow-up while a run is in progress. Gently can use the image along with your instructions to adjust the ongoing work.

Come back to an unfinished prompt

Threads

Unsent prompt text saves automatically and follows you across devices. Restore it from Prompt drafts or remove drafts you no longer need. When you send a prompt, the text stays visible until Gently accepts it.

See what a thread has used and changed

ThreadsUsage

The status line below the prompt shows total cost, time, token usage, and remaining model context, alongside commits and changed files. Keep track of the work and its usage without opening a separate panel.

Local Supabase, ready with the project

EnvironmentsSupabase

When a project uses Supabase, Gently can now provision an isolated local stack with Postgres, Auth, REST, Storage, and Edge Functions, connect it to every app, apply migrations, and reproduce the setup on rebuild — without reaching for a hosted project or production data.

Pin feedback to the exact spot

CollaborationWireframes

Comment on a wireframe, a live preview element, selected code, or a passage in the conversation, and mention the teammate who should see it. Continue the discussion with threaded replies and share a link to the comment. Selected text in the conversation or a code diff can also go straight into your next prompt.

Faster browser checks, recordings in the background

VerificationPerformance

Browser verification gets to the result faster because routine checks no longer wait on video capture. The live preview stays responsive while narration and video processing finish in the background, and completed recordings appear in the thread when they are ready.

Add a Guide to complex work

Agent teamsReview

The new Guide run shape keeps your chosen model in charge while a stronger model gives brief, focused plan, help, and final-review consultations. It adds scrutiny where it matters without the overhead of a fully orchestrated team.

Choose who can use each integration

IntegrationsAdmin

Open a connection to everyone or keep it restricted, then allow or block individual people and teams. The same access editor now covers MCP tools, AWS, Jira, Linear, and Notion, so shared credentials do not have to mean shared access.

Link to the exact moment in a thread

ThreadsCollaboration

Copy a permanent link to any prompt, follow-up instruction, or response. Opening it jumps directly to that point, even deep inside a long thread.

Start automations from a useful template

Automations

Set up a weekly customer-conversation review, a product report, Jira ticket analysis, or an incoming pull-request review from a ready-made starting point. Gently fills in the prompt and trigger and flags any integration you still need to connect.

Bring your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription

ModelsBilling

Connect a personal Claude or ChatGPT subscription from your settings and run threads on it. Gently sets the connection up for you, shows the models it unlocks along with your remaining usage, and lets you relink or disconnect whenever you want.

A database tab in every thread

DatabaseWorkspace

Browse the data your work actually runs against, without leaving the thread. Postgres, SQLite, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch all appear as connection tabs with tables, structure, and filters.

Edit rows, run queries, ask the data

Database

Change values in place, add and delete rows — each Save applies as a single transaction. A console runs queries with write commands held back as a dry run first, and an “Ask the database” helper answers questions about the data and can send its findings into the conversation.

Ask a side question without derailing the run

Threads

Ask a side question while the main work continues, with suggested questions and a panel you can open from anywhere in the thread. You can now choose a different model for the side conversation without changing the model doing the main work.

Review feedback you can work through

Review

Code review findings are grouped with comment counts and a collapse rail, can be fixed within the same turn, can be cancelled as a group, and say plainly when fixes have not been re-reviewed yet.

Pull request status in the thread

GitHub

Open PRs report live status and let you bring a branch up to date from the thread, and a merge blocked by a conflict with the base branch is now resolved and retried instead of just failing.

A project lead that keeps going

Agent teams

Give a project lead an autonomy level and a direction and it keeps picking up work on its own, hands notes between cycles, opens each cycle with a briefing digest, and takes finished work to the project forum for review.

Take a document away as a PDF

Documents

Reports, playbooks, and summaries can be produced as a real downloadable PDF from any chat mode — including the ones that never touch your code.

17 updates

Improve a prompt before you send it

Threads

Use Prompt Coach in the composer to refine your request before starting a run. It can take the current conversation and attached files into account, so you do not have to explain the context again.

Catch up on notifications you missed

Notifications

A notification inbox keeps run completions, approval requests, and other updates in one place across your organizations. Open an item to return to the work, track unread updates, or mark everything as read.

Find and reopen archived work

Threads

Search can now surface archived threads, and you can restore a thread when you need to continue it. Past work is easier to find without keeping every conversation on the active board.

Take an artifact into another conversation

ArtifactsSlack

Paste a Gently web artifact link into another thread to bring its files into the new conversation and continue working on it. In Slack, thread artifacts can also arrive as native file attachments.

Fork a thread from any response

ThreadsWorkspace

Start a new thread from an earlier response and take the work in another direction. The conversation, files, environment changes, and a fresh branch all begin at that exact point while the original thread stays untouched.

Keep workspace tools close

Workspace

Pin every workspace surface you need — Files, Changes, Preview, and more — so the tools you use stay at hand on desktop and mobile.

See every handoff

Delivery

Commit stages now report what they are preparing, saving, and checking directly in the thread, so the end of a run no longer feels like a black box.

Let specialists keep working

Agent teams

Long-running research and implementation tasks can continue in the background and report back when they are ready, while the lead keeps the rest of the work moving.

An independent delivery check

Review

An independent review checks whether the finished work meets your request and reports what was verified before you take it forward.

Keep an objective in view

Goals

Standing goals carry an objective and checkable criteria across turns. Gently continues the work when it can and pauses with a reason when the goal is not yet proven.

Discuss ideas before building

Ideation

The new Ideate space and project forums give teams a place to shape ideas, ask specialists, and move a settled discussion into a real project.

Work side by side with the workspace

Workspace

Files, Changes, Preview, and the conversation can now live in a resizable workspace, with layouts, search, diagnostics, and language navigation close at hand.

Bring the context with you

Attachments

Threads now have a dedicated attachments view with PDF previews, and document uploads can be read by the agent instead of remaining opaque files.

Browser demos can speak for themselves

Verification

Browser verification recordings can now include narrated voiceovers and captions, alongside the scenario labels and evidence captures already saved with the run.

Navigate long threads at a glance

Threads

The thread minimap now opens into an outline of prompts, plans, responses, and run stages, making it faster to return to the exact part of a long conversation you need.

Review code changes in place

Code review

Changed-line markers in the workspace now open a focused before-and-after preview, so you can understand an edit without leaving the file.

Sandboxes show their work

Sandboxes

New sandboxes now surface image download progress during startup instead of leaving you to guess whether the environment is still moving.

10 updates

Work directly on a folder on your Mac

DesktopProjects

Choose a local folder in Gentlybot Desktop to make it a project without connecting GitHub. Threads run on that Mac and edit the folder directly, so the changes are available in your usual editor.

Turn a useful workflow into a skill

Skills

Ask Gently to save a workflow as a reusable skill in your skills library. It is enabled for you immediately, and teammates can opt in when they want to use it too.

Know who can open a preview

WorkspaceSharing

Private workspace previews require organization access. A dedicated sharing dialog lets you copy the link and explains who can open it, so sharing a URL does not leave access permissions unclear.

Gently runs on your Mac

Desktop

Run Gently on your Mac, preview your app locally, and choose local AI models. Choose whether a new thread runs on your Mac or in the cloud.

Review important changes more deeply

Review

Ask a panel of specialist reviewers to check important changes. Choose the reviewers, give them your team’s review guidelines, and have fixes checked again before you merge.

Create a project from a prompt

Projects

Describe what you want to make and Gently turns the prompt into a named project with the right starter path, instead of making you configure the project first.

Keep iterating on web artifacts

Artifacts

Create and revise web artifacts in a thread, with an embedded preview and a stable share link that keeps working as you publish new versions.

Choose the run shape

Agent teams

For larger requests, choose an orchestrated run: a lead delegates complementary investigations and implementation work, then checks the merged result before finishing.

Threads hold their ground

Threads

Long streaming threads no longer yank your scroll position while the agent works, and the tab favicon animates while a run is in progress — so you can leave and glance back.

Clearer PR actions

GitHub

Open or merge a pull request from its thread, and see whether your branch needs updates from the main branch.

15 updates

Explore a wireframe before building

WireframesCollaboration

View interactive wireframes directly in the conversation and share a link with teammates on the web or in Slack. Discuss the proposed screen before turning it into working code.

Explore and export diagrams

Diagrams

Mermaid diagrams render directly in chat with zoom and pan controls. Export them as PNG or SVG to use in a document or share outside the thread.

See why an app is not starting

Environments

Inspect setup output and app logs from the workspace, restart individual apps or services, and ask Gently to investigate failures. Live command output makes it easier to follow a long-running task.

Jump to work from the command palette

NavigationThreads

Use the command palette to find threads and navigate the app from the keyboard. Star threads you want to return to and use the starred filter to keep them close.

Skills library

Skills

A curated library of reusable skills across product, design, QA, engineering, and ops workflows — browsable in the app and invocable as /slash commands in any thread.

Built-in GitHub PR automations

GitHubAutomations

Per-org opt-in capabilities: auto-fix failing CI on open PRs, address review comments as follow-up runs, @gentlybot slash commands in PR comments, and Dependabot/code-scanning alert fixes.

First-class plans

Threads

Plans are now real artifacts: inline editing with revision history, an approve-and-build handoff (continue in the same thread or a new one), and a plan indicator that follows you down the thread.

Richer browser verification

Verification

Recordings are segmented per scenario with a visible cursor and click ripple, runs end with an attachments panel of labeled captures, and a live browser view lets you watch verification as it happens.

Keep a project workspace ready

Sandboxes

Keep a project workspace available at the same preview URL. Switch branches, run threads there, and restart apps or inspect logs from one page.

Jira and Notion integrations

Integrations

Connect Jira and Notion so Gently can use your tickets and documents as context. Create Jira issues from a conversation, with event-triggered automations available in early access.

Vision for every model

Models

Attach screenshots for Gently to read, including when your chosen model cannot process images itself. Large images are resized to reduce the cost of using them.

Self-serve billing and plans

Billing

Manage your subscription and see your organization’s spending, remaining credits, and concurrent run limits from the app.

See work as a board

Threads

Threads now have list and Kanban views with filters, team grouping, archive controls, and live updates, so busy workspaces stay navigable.

More model providers

Models

Connect Together AI or Baseten and choose their models for your threads.

Smoother onboarding

Onboarding

One in-page wizard from sign-in to first thread: pick a template, connect tools, start. Google sign-ups get a GitHub-free path with templates as the entry point.
